Witney Houston dies at 48
Whitney Elizabeth Houston, singer and actress, was best known for her hit song "I will always love you" and cult movie The Bodyguard. Houston, who died on February 11, 2012 at age 48 had a troubled past with domestic violence in her marriage to Bobbie Brown and frequent run-ins with the law over heroin/crack drug usage.
Whitney Houston died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where she was staying in advance of award season on the Grammies and Oscars. At her last public perfomrance she sang "Jesus Loves Me", of which many audience members noted her voice was lacking due to troubled drug usage. On the afternoon of Feb 11, 2012, Houston was found submerged in her hotel bathtub. Coroners found the singer had overdosed on Xanax and other mood elevation pils, and had not drowned as was previously reported by the media at the time.
Her funeral the following week (Saturday, February 18, 2012) featured a number of celebrities that had known her including Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, Kevin Costner and Aretha Franklin.
