Leonard Nimoy dies at 83

Leonard Nimoy, best known for his role as Mr. Spock on the popular sci-fi Star Trek series, died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the age of 83 in Los Angeles on February 27, 2015. His character was a half-human, half-Vulcan that had spawned a series of films, TV spin-offs, movies and even games.



He was admitted to the hospital after suffering chest pains on February 19 and had even tweeted from the hospital
"A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory."

A number of organizations have major figures have noted his death, including NASA and fellow colleague and friend, George Takei. He is survived by his family (wife, daughter and son).

Singer/Writer Lesley Gore dies at 68

Lesley Gore, best known for her song "It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to" in 1963 at age 16, died Monday at the ripe age of 68. Lesley died of lung cancer in Manhattan, New York University's Langone Medica Centre. She is survived by her wive/partner, Lois Sasson, who has been with the crooner for over 33 years.

Lesley also performed "You don't own me", a song that would quickly become the feminist anthem. She was born and riased in New York and discovered by the legendary Quincy Jones, before singing to Mercury Records.  She even played catwoman's sidekick in the classic cult TV comedy show Batman. Gore is also succeeded by her brother, mother and cousins.
